Each year one hectare of Christmas trees will absorb 6 tonnes of carbon dioxide.  There are 30,000 hectares of Christmas trees growing in the UK which equates to 200,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.

One acre of Christmas Trees produces the daily oxygen requirement for 18 people.

As one tree is cut, another is planted so there is a constant stock of 30,000 hectares of trees.

Not only are artificial trees non-biodegradable, they are made from bi-products of irreplaceable fossilised fuels.

Christmas tree farms stabilise soil, protect water supplies and provide refuge for wildlife while creating scenic green belts.  They are often grown in poor quality soil that could not support other crops.

After the festive season, you can plant out your tree.  Cut trees can be shredded for mulch and used in gardens and amenity areas
